Seminole County is Florida’s natural choice for a reason! Come experience natural Florida on one of our guided hikes. Our knowledgeable guides will lead you through a variety of beautiful ecosystems and highlight the special habitats and the plants and creatures who live there. If you’re lucky, you might even get to meet a few of them! Get outdoors and experience all that Seminole County has to offer. Make sure to bring water, bug repellant and wear comfortable closed-toed shoes.

Cost: $5 per person. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required. Children must be at least 7 years of age and accompanied by an adult (unless otherwise noted). No pets. Service animals specifically trained to aid a person with a disability are welcome.

Come party with bugs! This fun and informational class will show off the wide array of small crawly critters that share our wilderness, yards and even homes with. Meet and greet with insects, arachnids and mollusks in the Nature Center, and end the program with a hike searching for wild bugs!

Snakes of Florida - 180608

Join local expert, Jessie Yates as she introduces and dispels some of the myths about these often-misunderstood cold blooded residents! Visit with native live snakes in the Nature Center, then end with a hike on our trails in search of wild snakes! Closed toed shoes required.

Family Fun Camp Out - 180610

This event is tailored for families with children ages 4-12. $20 per person for ages 4 and above. Children 3 and under are free. Families must have at least one child who is 4-12 years old.

Learn to camp in a fun, family-oriented event. Meals included! We will have tent pitching assistance, an animal program in the nature center, hiking, treats and games around the campfire and much more!
Campout starts Saturday at 2pm and ends Sunday at 9am.
Pre-registration is required, space is limited. Please register each person attending.

Star Gazing - 180612

Join Natural Lands and the Director of the Emil Buehler Planetarium at Seminole State College, Derek Demeter, for an evening exploring the wonders of the night sky. Peer through large telescopes as you tour many of the cosmos' best celestial objects. Beach chairs and/or picnic blankets are recommended. Ages 9+. Each person attending MUST be registered. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to an indoor virtual astronomy program at the Ed and Imogene Yarborough Nature Center in Geneva.

Fungi Fundamentals Class - 180625

Join a local expert for an introductory class on mushrooms and their identification. We’ll explore various topics, including basic mushroom biology and their ecological roles, identification techniques, photography and documentation tips, and conservation efforts. The class will include a presentation in the nature center, followed by a hike in search of wild mushrooms.
