Seminole County is Florida’s natural choice for a reason! Come experience natural Florida on one of our guided hikes. Our knowledgeable guides will lead you through a variety of beautiful ecosystems and highlight the special habitats and the plants and creatures who live there. If you’re lucky, you might even get to meet a few of them! Get outdoors and experience all that Seminole County has to offer. Make sure to bring water, bug repellant and wear comfortable closed-toed shoes.

Cost: $5 per person. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required for all hikes. Children must be at least 7 years of age and accompanied by an adult (unless otherwise noted).

Imagine a camp where you can have fun while learning about the natural world! Campers will have fun hiking, fishing, setting traps, playing nature games, arts & crafts and more! Nature Crafts: Join Natural Lands to create a fun wintry craft from nature! We will begin the morning with a hike through the woods collecting natural treasures. From the items you collect, you’ll weave a beautiful grapevine wreath that you can give as a gift or decorate your door with!

Crocodilians of the World: This class introduces you to familiar and not-so-familiar crocodilians! Learn the fascinating evolution of this group of reptiles and the incredible adaptations that have helped them survive for hundreds of millions of years. Find out how we can live alongside these ancient animals in Florida. End the class with a live alligator encounter!

This event is tailored for families with children ages 4-12. $20 per person for ages 4 and above. Children 3 and under are free. Families must have at least one child who is 4-12 years old.

Learn to camp in a fun, family-oriented event. Meals included! We will have tent pitching assistance, an animal program in the nature center, hiking, treats and games around the campfire and much more! For the Haunted Woods camp out, expect fun and spooky surprises during this Halloween-themed event. During the Fall Festival event, enjoy fun games and crafts celebrating the beautiful Fall season.
Campout starts Saturday at 2pm and ends Sunday at 9am.

Join Natural Lands and the Director of the Emil Buehler Planetarium at Seminole State College, Derek Demeter, for an evening exploring the wonders of the night sky. Peer through large telescopes as you tour many of the cosmos' best celestial objects. Beach chairs and/or picnic blankets are recommended. Ages 9+. Each person attending MUST be registered. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to an indoor virtual astronomy program at the Ed and Imogene Yarborough Nature Center in Geneva.

Animal bones can tell stories! Learn to read animal skulls to discover what they eat, how they’re built and how they live. This fun and informational class will introduce you to the world of animal skulls and how to identify animals from their bones. Meet and greet with live animals in the Nature Center and piece together tiny skeletons by dissecting an owl pellet!
